TSA Agent arrested for stealing from passenger

February 7, 2012 deancameron Leave a comment Freedom Fighters, Good News, Libertarian, The TSA, Unreasonable Search?, You're kidding me!

I had two laptops stolen by the TSA years ago. Baggage handlers and TSA agents in NYC and Florida were working together. The rotten TSA agents (redundant?) would identify the bags on their way to Florida with the “good” stuff and the baggage handlers in Florida would then open the bags and get the loot.

That was, at least, somewhat clever.

A TSA thug at the Newark airport, Alexandra Schmid, just swiped $5,000 cash from a passenger like a little kid stealing candy. The silver lining in this is that in addition to putting the agent, Alexandra Schmid (no relation to John Jacob Jingleheimer) the feds are now launching an investigation and have suspended eight workers for misconduct. Their deeds? Sleeping on the job, stealing and failure to properly screen baggage.

The money is still missing.

Hey, TSA… Insulin pump != gun

January 30, 2012 deancameron Leave a comment The TSA, Unreasonable Search?, You're kidding me!

The fine folks at your TSA delayed boarding and detained passengers after mistaking an insulin pump for a weapon at LAX.

The incident occured January 27, 2012 around 7:30am in Terminal 4.

What’s the saying about being a hammer and everything looking like nails?
Oh.
If you’re a hammer, the whole world looks like nails.

TSA creator: “Abandon Screenings”

The Ron Paul 2012 web site is buzzing with even more pro-liberty/anti-tsa content than usual after future president Rand Paul was detained by the TSA today.

They cite an article at Human Events where John Mica, chairman of the House Transportation Committee said “They need to get out of the screening business and back into security. Most of the screening they do should be abandoned”.

Here is the article on Ron Paul 2012: http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2012/01/23/tsa-creator-agrees-with-ron-paul-about-abolishing-tsa/.

Here’s the Human Events article.

One Man Promotion Machine

Penn Jillette, the louder, larger half of Penn & Teller, continuing his decades long promotional gauntlet for the Bill of Rights – Security Edition.

Nice to show up in a piece by the Cato Institute.

The mention shows up around minute 14:00.

Thanks again, Penn!

Brother, can you spare 400k?

January 12, 2012 deancameron Leave a comment Self-Promotion, The TSA, You're kidding me!

According to THE HILL, the TSA collected $400,000 in spare change left by passengers in airports in 2011.

You can read the full article here.

There’s a small discussion on the site as to what should be done with the money. At this time, 1/3 of the people in the discussion think that the 400k should go to me, Dean Cameron. That may change. Who knows?

TSA Confiscates Cupcake

December 24, 2011 deancameron Leave a comment The TSA, Unreasonable Search?, USA PATRIOT ACT, You're kidding me!

TSA Agent cites “frosting as security risk”.

Rebecca Hains said the Transportation Security Administration agent at McCarran International Airport took her cupcake Wednesday, telling her its frosting was enough like a gel to violate TSA restrictions on allowing liquids and gels onto flights to prevent them from being used as explosives.

The victim of this fiasco (besides each and every one of us) sums it all up rather nicely:

“It’s not really about the cupcake; I can get another cupcake,’’ she said. “It’s about an encroachment on civil liberties. We’re just building up a resistance and tolerance to all these things they’re doing in the name of security, when it’s really theater. It is not keeping us safe.’’

Freedom from across the pond

I just saw this. Very cool from a good bloke from across the pond!

Thanks, Andy!

Let’s get rid of the TSA, shall we?

December 21, 2011 deancameron Leave a comment Freedom Fighters, Libertarian, The TSA, U.S. Constitution, Unreasonable Search?, USA PATRIOT ACT

From Downsize DC’s “Downsizer Dispatch”.

“The right to travel enables the free exercise of the other rights we most cherish. We should not have to check our constitutional freedoms at the curb simply because we decide to leave the house. Sadly, freedom of movement has been one of the most disparaged rights throughout human history, and our country is no exception. If we are ever to be truly free, then we must possess an absolute, uninhibited right to travel throughout America and the world free from interference by government.” – Judge Andrew Napolitano

The TSA is a worthless and pointless bit of theater sponsored by the U.S. Government. Government theater is the worst kind of theater.

Let’s get rid of it. Send a letter to your reps via Downsize DC.

Read about what they’re doing to fight the good fight here: https://secure.downsizedc.org/etp/tsa/
